One of the things I enjoy most is expanding my skill set. This means professionally and personally, as well as technically and spiritually. There are so many ways to expand your skill set now a days with the availability of online content, YouTube, book review sites like Good Reads and of course the library!

I’ve recently started reading the book called “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero. It’s been a book on my “want to read” list for quite some time now. I just have a thing against buying books because I do not like having to find space to store them nor having to move with them. I really don’t have to worry about the latter any time soon but I still don’t like the storage. I’m a neat-freak! But I digress…

While I’m finding the book a lot easier to read than I thought – almost too easy. I am still finding motivation and inspiration within it which is exactly what I had hoped for. The first quote I came across that really struck a cord with me was “We would be wise to take more of our cues from the beasts and the babies.” It was quite perfect because just a few days before reading this, I had taken a picture of my cat and my baby looking into the eyes of each other. It was a special moment for me – as weird as that sounds – when I witnessed this. I was sitting on the floor observing and playing with my baby while doing tummy time and I just admired how both of them were totally enthralled with each other at that given moment.

They both were laying on the floor and just staring into each other eyes.

They were totally in the moment.  And that’s exactly what Jen was referring to in this chapter. It’s so important to remember where we come from – as children, we believe anything is possible, we have wild imaginations, endless energy and motivation to do things. Somewhere along the way, beliefs of others, things we read and internalize take over our brains and we learn different ways of thinking. If you are a business owner, you’ve already started on the road to achieving this mindset of living in the moment but after a few years of running it, you can begin to feel burnt out, run down and overwhelmed. It’s during this moment that you should take the time you need to reset, recharge and revitalize yourself and your thoughts so you can get back to being.

This is something I definitely had to learn to do. And It’s something I work hard to remember to do each day.

I wish you well on your journey of being a business owner and hope this post helps you to remember that it’s okay to take a break and relax. You should reset your mind so you have the clarity and creativity to continue on. Just remember to live in the moment, cherish the time you have on this earth and appreciate yourself and your business, you are doing great!

Welcome!
